How could we make it so that that hulls didn't shift too much during the night and yet allow the sleeper to easily mold the pillow while changing positions? How could we make adjusting the pillow for comfortable supportive sleep even easier?

It took us over a year of testing, tweaking and retesting, but we did it!

A buckwheat pillow can last for many years with the proper care.

How to take care of your buckwheat pillow:

  • Protect your pillow from the wear of daily use with a pillowcase.
  • Spot wash your pillow with a damp cloth. Let the pillow dry out in a sunny spot.
  • Keep your pillow dry and well aired. Moisture leads to buckwheat hull degradation.
  • Rejuvenate your pillow by adding new buckwheat hulls.
  • To store buckwheat pillows, place in a clean pillowcase and keep in a dry, well ventilated area.


Entire buckwheat pillows cannot be put into the washing machine or dryer.

Soaking buckwheat hulls with water will ruin them, so buckwheat pillows should not be put directly into the washing machine. However, you can empty all the buckwheat hulls from your pillow, and wash the cotton pillow casing on cold and hang it to dry. The buckwheat hulls can be set in the sun to disinfect. Stomach Sleeper

Create a flatter pillow by removing hulls to keep your spine aligned.

Back Sleeper

Try the pillow as is. If your head and neck are being pushed forward, remove some hulls. If your head is tilted backwards, add some hulls.

Side Sleeper

Try the pillow as is. For most side sleepers, the addition of some hulls is often needed. Add 1 cup at a time until your head and neck feel comfortably supported.

I ordered a Contour buckwheat pillow a month or two ago and have been getting used to it. Recently my husband has been fighting with his pillows and I offered it to him to try. I wasn't sure the Contour was the perfect pillow for me (I actually ended up using the non-contour edge as I felt it kept loft through the night a little better), but even after the first night back to my old pillow, I missed the support of the buckwheat! He likes it and I've realized I sleep more on my side than my back, so I'm ordering a ComfyNeck now for me to try.

Beyond whether or not this particular pillow works for me, I appreciate the attention to detail I've seen in the Contour pillow and case. Providing extra hulls in an oversized bag so you can easily add or remove them; good quality fabric, zippers, and stitching. Seems like it will last a long time!

Amazing Customer Service

I have to be honest, I'm still not sure if this pillow is right for me... but I cannot fault this company at all. They responded to my email with some tips to try and even sent me latex foam to try to get the pillow to feel softer for me (no extra charge or shipping!).

The pillow itself is definitely high quality - I'm just not sure if the actual buckwheat pillow is the right fit for me. This company is so amazing, responsive and seem genuinely dedicated to making you love their product. AND they're Canadian <3. I'd definitely give it a try, and they will do everything they can to make sure they help you :)

I took off one star, because I do genuinely feel it was overpriced at $120 after taxes). I'd still recommend it if you're looking to try a new style of pillow.

Bought two of these. One for me, one for my wife. I'm a stomach/side sleeper, whereas she is a back/side sleeper. She has chronic neck and back pain; meanwhile, I am very picky with these pillows. First few sleeps on these contour pillows have been a dream for us both. No matter what position we're in, neck/head feels very supported. Amazing construction quality on the pillows. Have been recommending these to everyone I talk to!

Love it

Don't knock it till you try it. There's something about this shape that is just great. It's perfect for sleeping on your back and by the time you're ready to turn to the side, it's already the perfect height.
